Why should I volunteer?

New Directions Center, Inc. believes that only a coordinated community effort will bring about the social change needed to end domestic and sexual violence. Volunteers represent a substantial part of our agency and are a key piece of our community efforts to reduce the impact and occurrence of violence.

How do I become a volunteer?

You can begin volunteering by applying today! We welcome anyone to apply.

How does volunteering work?

We differentiate volunteers into the two categories of Level I and Level II:

  • Level I volunteers are individuals interested in helping provide indirect services to clients, administrative duties, cleaning and maintenance of our facilities, and assisting with donations.

Interview

A staff member will contact you to arrange an interview after your application has been reviewed.

Assessment

Staff will work with you to determine where your skills are most needed and how you can help.

Scheduling

Staff will work with you to schedule times for you to come in and officially volunteer with us!

  • Level II volunteers are individuals that are interested in provide direct services to clients, such as crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, case management, and taking hotline calls. Level II volunteers are required to attend and complete our volunteer training. Training includes assessment of your skills and shadowing our staff members. 

Interview

A staff member will contact you to arrange an interview after your application has been reviewed.

Training

You will be given the training dates and times to attend to begin working as a Level II Volunteer.

Shadowing

After training, we will have you shadow staff that provides the services you're interested in assisting with.

Assessment

After staff determines where your skills are most needed, you can begin officially volunteering!
